I created a two page layout with photos I took over Mother's Day weekend. David's nephews were up at his Dad's house & we stopped by to visit.

I used a kit by Colie's Corner from the SYTYCD contest called Feeling Froggy. I love the background paper. The template by Kristin's Scrap Design made putting this layout a snap to put together. The word art "There is nothing that together cousins can't do!!" I found on a Donna's Digital Creations blog.

Kaitlyn's Second Birthday

If you know me, you know that I love, love, love wordart. Bits2kits has a quote challenge that you get to use Happy Birthday word art on your layout, but I will earn a great kit of 7 birthday quotes. How cool is that???


I took the word art provided for the challenge & colored it to match the colors of my layout. I thought this photo was pretty cute from Kaitlyn's second birthday. The wrapping paper of the gift pretty much matched the colors of her shirt. She was funny this year. She had paper every where when she was done.

Kaitlyn & Papa

I stumbled across these photos of Kaitlyn & papa today. I think these photos are so precious, I wanted to record this time.I knew the colors in the photos would be just perfect to go with Helen's new Mom's Garden Add Ons. You should see the elements in these kits. There is so much to choose from & I love the colors. Most of the elements I used were from the 3rd add on. A couple flowers were from Add on #2.

Bethany (Elegant Word Art) had a wonderful word art for Papa's on her blog that I thought would work well with these photos.

Build A Page Challenge at Bits2Kit.com - Week 3

This is my layout for week 3 of the challenge. Nathan went shopping with Dad & they came home with a tackle box with him. He was so proud of it. He came up & told me, "Mom, I got a new tackle box. It wasn't on the list, but we still got it."

I think you can see the look of glee in his photos. The photos were taken out in the garage where the light isn't very good, but I just had to scrap these photos, because they are so adorable. It's very strange these days, that he will actually smile for the camera.

Spring Flowers

I just love to see my spring flowers come up in the beginning of Spring. It brings me hope. I think there may actually be an end to all this cold weather & hopes of summer fill my body.

I love to get a picture of my daffodils each year because they bring me so much joy with their bright yellow coloring. They are only here for a short time, so I love to capture the moment so I can remember this feeling for the rest of the year.

Raggedy Ann & Andy

When I found this kit called Ann & Andy, I just knew I wanted to use it for a layout. I had a Raggedy Ann & Andy when I was growing up.

This kit is by Blind Sight Designs & is available at Bits2Kits.com. I think she did a wonderful job with putting the together great elements & a super mix of colors.

Tractor Cake

Nathan got to pick out his cake this year for his birthday. We went to talk with the cake lady & found out she has made tractor cakes before. Nathan’s request was a green John Deere tractor with a bucket. He was thrilled with this cake for his fourth birthday.

I made this layout using a template from Kristin's new set: Template Pack 20 . It's available at Kristin's Scrap Design. I love how easy it was to use, since it automatically blended the large photo.

Journaling Challenge at Bits2Kits.com

I'm hosting a journaling challenge at Bits2Kits.com during May.

I know journaling is not one of the favorite things to do on layouts, but I feel it really helps us capture & preserve our thoughts for our children & other loved ones.

This month's challenge is to journal about a challenge that we've overcome. We have challenges every days, some are big some are small, some are quick while others take years. With graduation right around the corner, I see that as a perfect challenge that may have taken 13 years for high school & an unknown amount of time for college. Young children have many challenges their first year, learning to sit, learning to stand, learning to walk, learning how to . . . the list goes on & on.

The layout I created is called Nathan's hair cut. His hair grows so fast, but he hates to sit to get it cut. It always ends with him looking so incredibly cute, but getting to this end always involves a struggle & many tears.

As always, you can use kits from any designers to complete your challenge. This month you will earn points as well as an awesome posting bonus.

SYTYCD contest at DSA

I've been having great fun following the contest at DigiScrapAddicts. It's cool to see designers layed out like scrappers. I've always known that we all have different styles, but it's really fun to see & pick up the type of designers I like.

I also think that sometimes kits look pretty in previews, but may not work when I try to use them in my layouts. I enjoyed using the mini kit by Ilona Havenaar - Life Is Beautiful.

This was the first time I've used a kit by her & I found her designs to be very usable. I love the word art she included.

It fit perfectly for my layout of me & my sisters. I also used a new template by Kristin's Scrap Design called Template pack no 20. It's great because it automatically comes with the blended photo.
